MS .Net Programming Home PC Courses – The Options
Filed under marketingAug 26What could a trainee searching for training tracks certified by Microsoft expect from providers these days? Clearly, training providers should be offering a selection of different options that meet the requirements of Microsoft certified training tracks.
Maybe you’d like to look for a person who’s got industry experience, who could offer counsel on which area of the industry would be right for you, and what sort of duties are correct for a person with a personality like yours.
Confirm that your training is matched to your current skills and aptitude. A quality company will make sure that the course is relevant to the career you want to get into.
We’d hazard a guess that you’re quite practically minded – a ‘hands-on’ personality type. If you’re anything like us, the painful task of reading endless manuals is something you’ll make yourself do if you have to, but it doesn’t suit your way of doing things. So look for on-screen interactive learning packages if book-based learning really isn’t your style.
Many years of research has constantly demonstrated that getting into our studies physically, is much more conducive to long-term memory.
Fully interactive motion videos featuring instructor demo’s and practice lab’s will turn you off book-based study for ever more. And you’ll actually enjoy doing them.
You really need to look at some example materials from your chosen company. They have to utilise instructor-led video demonstrations with virtual practice-lab’s.
It doesn’t make sense to opt for on-line only training. Due to the variable nature of connection quality from your average broadband company, make sure you get physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s.
Many people question why academic qualifications are now falling behind more commercially accredited qualifications?
As we require increasingly more effective technological know-how, the IT sector has of necessity moved to specialist courses that can only come from the vendors – that is companies like Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA. This often comes in at a fraction of the cost and time.
In a nutshell, the learning just focuses on what’s actually required. It isn’t quite as lean as that might sound, but principally the objective has to be to cover the precise skills needed (including a degree of required background) – without attempting to cover a bit about every other area (as universities often do).
Imagine if you were an employer – and you wanted someone who could provide a specific set of skills. Which is the most straightforward: Go through a mass of different academic qualifications from hopeful applicants, having to ask what each has covered and which workplace skills they’ve acquired, or pick out specific commercial accreditations that specifically match what you’re looking for, and make your short-list from that. You can then focus on how someone will fit into the team at interview – instead of having to work out if they can do the job.
Charging for exam fees upfront then giving it ‘Exam Guarantee’ status is a popular marketing tool with many training course providers. But look at the facts:
It’s become essential these days that we are a little more ‘marketing-savvy’ – and the majority of us ought to grasp that it is something we’re paying for (it isn’t free or out of the goodness of their hearts!)
Those who take each progressive exam, paying for them just before taking them are much more likely to pass. They’re mindful of the cost and so are more inclined to be ready for the task.
Why should you pay your college early for exam fees? Go for the best offer when you’re ready, rather than pay marked up fees – and take it closer to home – not at somewhere of their bidding.
Why borrow the money or pay in advance (plus interest of course) on exams when there’s absolutely nothing that says you have to? A lot of profit is netted by organisations getting paid upfront for exams – and banking on the fact that many won’t be taken.
In addition to this, exam guarantees often have very little value. The majority of companies won’t pay again for an exam until you have demonstrated conclusively that you won’t fail again.
Paying maybe a thousand pounds extra on ‘Exam Guarantees’ is remiss – when study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.
Far too many companies only concern themselves with gaining a certificate, and avoid focusing on why you’re doing this – getting yourself a new job or career. Always begin with the end in mind – don’t get hung-up on the training vehicle.
Students often train for a single year but end up doing a job for a lifetime. Don’t make the mistake of choosing what sounds like an ‘interesting’ training program only to waste your life away with a job you hate!
It’s essential to keep your focus on what you want to achieve, and formulate your training based on that – not the other way round. Keep your eyes on your goals and ensure that you’re training for a job you’ll enjoy for years to come.
We’d recommend you seek advice from an experienced professional before you begin some particular training programme, so there’s little doubt that the content of a learning package provides the skills necessary.
